Increasing Positive Behaviors Among Students with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Through Social Storytelling Method

This study aims to change the problem of disruptive behavior (disruptive) of Integrated Special Child Education Programme (PPKI) students in the ADHD category using the Social Story method during learning time. The focus of the study is to change two disruptive behaviors, which are not sitting in the chair at the right time, and talking without permission. These two problematic behaviors were identified based on observations and interviews with teachers and assistant teachers (PPM. Social storytelling method is employed in an attempt to modify these two specific problematic behaviors. The study sample is a 9-year-old PPKI student from the Ceria 2 class of Sekolah Kebangsaan Undang Jelebu, who has been diagnosed with ADHD by a specialist doctor. The study was conducted for 6 weeks using an A-B-A-B study design where A represents the baseline phase 1, B represents the intervention phase or treatment phase, while phase A baseline 2 which is the withdrawal phase of intervention or treatment will be withdrawn, and phase B 2 where the intervention or treatment phase will be done again for reinforcement. The findings of the research data will be presented in the form of tables and linear graphs. The results of the study show that the social storytelling method produces a positive impact in modifying negative behavior into positive behavior.
