  • Proceedings of 5th International Conference on Special Education
    Vol. 5 (2023)

    The 5th International Conference on Special Education 2023 (ICSE 2023) was hosted at Taylors University Lakeside Campus, Selangor, Malaysia, from October 4th to 5th, providing a platform for various stakeholders in Disability-Inclusive Education. Participants, including prominent speakers, educators, NGOs, parents, and officials from Ministries of Education, gathered to share insights and ideas through diverse session formats. The conference, centered around the theme "Gearing Towards Disability-Inclusive Education Recovery," aligned with UNESCO's initiatives and emphasized Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). ICSE 2023 featured 23 full papers in its proceedings and 39 in indexed journals, showcasing advancements and innovations in Disability-Inclusive Education. The conference welcomed 348 attendees, including speakers, presenters, participants, innovator finalists, and exhibitors representing over 15 countries worldwide. The opening ceremony was graced by the Deputy Director-General of Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Dr. Ahmad Rafee Che Kassim, marking a significant stride in advancing Disability-Inclusive Education and fostering collaboration and innovation in this vital domain.

  • Proceedings of 4th International Conference on Special Education

    The 4th International Conference on Special Education 2021 (ICSE 2021) was held from 25th to 26th September 2021 virtually due to the restrictions on movement imposed by international governments following the Covid-19 pandemic. The conference provided a unique opportunity for government, academic institutions and non-profit organizations in the area of Disability-Inclusive Education to discuss and exchange ideas. Participants included educators, researchers, postgraduate students, policy makers, stakeholders and communities from SEAMEO member countries as well as internationally. The conference sessions were in the forms of lectures, presentations and exhibitions focusing on Disability-Inclusive Education. Highlights included field-expert keynote speeches, plenary sessions, roundtable discussions and resolutions on important current issues in this region. This forth conference featured the theme “Inclusion: A New Curve” and was supported by 16 sub-themes including seven (7) knowledge sharing sessions. Inclusive education was chosen to be the focus of the conference echoing UNESCO’s agenda on “Education For All”. ICSE 2021 envisioned to be the exchange platform on education development and research-based practices in achieving the SGD4 agenda. A total of 68 full papers were accepted by the reviewing committee and were published in this proceeding. The conference successfully recorded 1,719 attendees including presenters, participants and 10 exhibitors from over 27 countries. The organizer was extremely honoured to have H.E. Datin Sri Hajah Noor Zamani Abdol Hamid, Director General of Education Malaysia officiating the conference.

  • Proceedings of 3rd International Conference on Special Education

    The 3rd International Conference on Special Education 2019 (ICSE 2019) was held from 13th to 15st July 2019 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya, Indonesia. The conference provided a unique opportunity for government, academic institutions and non-profit organizations in the area of Disability-Inclusive Education to discuss and exchange ideas. Participants includes educators, researchers, postgraduate students, policy makers, stakeholders and communities from SEAMEO member countries as well as internationally. The conference sessions were in the forms of lectures, presentations and exhibitions focusing on Disability-Inclusive Education. Highlights included field-expert keynote speeches, plenary sessions, roundtable discussions and resolutions on important current issues in this region. This third conference featured the theme “Elevating Innovation for Sustainable Development of Special Needs Education” and was supported by 17 sub-themes reflecting SEAMEO SEN to increase access and engagement for persons with disabilities. Most importantly, the introduction of innovation to learners with disabilities had significantly given greater learning opportunity. A total of 143 full papers were accepted by the review committee and were published in this proceeding. The conference successfully recorded 1,112 attendees which included presenters and participants from around the world. The organizer was extremely honoured to have H.E. Seta Ir. Ananto Kesuma, Senior Advisor to the Minister on Innovation and Competitiveness at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia to officiate and grace the conference.

  • Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Special Education

    The 2nd International Conference on Special Education 2017 (ICSE 2017) was held from 31st July to 2nd August 2017 at the Borneo Convention Center in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. The conference provided a unique opportunity for government, academic institutions and non-profit organizations in the area of Disability-Inclusive Education to discuss and exchange ideas. Participants included educators, researchers, postgraduate students, policy makers, stakeholders and communities from SEAMEO member countries as well as internationally. The conference sessions were in the forms of lectures, presentations and exhibitions focusing on Disability-Inclusive Education. Highlights included field-expert keynote speeches, plenary sessions, roundtable discussions and resolutions on important current issues in this region. This second conference featured the theme “Access and Engagement in Special Education” and was supported by 17 sub-themes reflecting SEAMEO SEN’s initiative to provide trending and current practices in Special Education within the regional contexts. The conference discussed issues and current agenda which were the philosophical tenets of Special Education. In addition to the keynote and plenary sessions, eight (8) workshops were conducted specifically to enable in-depth discussions among the participants. A total of 101 full papers were accepted by the reviewing committee and were published in this proceeding. The conference successfully recorded 820 attendees which included presenters, participants and 20 exhibitors from over 31 countries. The organizer was extremely honoured to have H.E. Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abd. Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Hj. Openg, the Chief Minister of Sarawak officiating the opening ceremony and the Minister of Education of Malaysia, H.E. Dato’ Seri Mahdzir bin Khalid for closing ceremony.

    The 1st International Conference on Special Education 2015 (ICSE 2015) was held from 28th to 31st July 2015 at the Central Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand. The conference provided a unique opportunity for government, academic institutions and non-profit organizations in the area of Disability-Inclusive Education to discuss and exchange ideas. Participants included educators, researchers, postgraduate students, policy makers, stakeholders and communities from SEAMEO member countries as well as internationally. The conference sessions were in the forms of lectures, presentations and exhibitions focusing on Disability-Inclusive Education. Highlights included field-expert keynote speeches, plenary sessions, roundtable discussions and resolutions on important current issues in this region. This first conference featured the theme “Innovation to Enhance Learning and Practices” and was supported by nine (9) sub-themes. This included new methods in teaching and learning, development of assistive devices, ICT applied teaching gadget and use of cyber learning. A total of 97 full papers and 12 posters were accepted by the reviewing committee and were published in this proceeding. The conference successfully recorded 1,750 attendees which included presenters and participants from over 30 countries. The organizer was extremely honoured to have H.E. Prof. Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand to officiate and grace the conference.
